Overview

The Sports Grill in Austell, GA, stands as a classic bar & grill destination where the spirit of community meets hearty food and a lively atmosphere. Nestled conveniently on Austell Road, this spot captures the essence of a neighborhood hangout—a place where regulars are welcomed like old friends and the vibe echoes the warmth of a traditional "Cheers" bar. It’s an inviting space that balances rustic charm with an energetic, social scene, making it ideal for sports fans, casual diners, and anyone seeking an unpretentious night out.

The menu centers around comfort and familiarity with a focus on grilled favorites and satisfying bar staples. Signature dishes such as the Sports Grill Steak & Eggs and the assortment of burgers—including the hefty Monster Burger and the smoky Buffalo Burger 2.0—showcase an emphasis on rich, bold flavors crafted with care. The wing selection is another highlight, famously celebrated with “Wing Wednesday,” and pairs perfectly with the robust drink offerings, ranging from Margaritas to Long Island Iced Teas and the distinctive Double Jack and Coke.

The Sports Grill takes pride in complementing its savory main courses with made-from-scratch desserts. Treats like the Brownie à la Mode and the ever-changing Homemade Cheesecake provide a sweet finish that embodies the home-cooked attention to detail found throughout the kitchen. Their sampler platters and tater tots baskets further enhance the convivial dining experience, encouraging sharing and casual indulgence among friends.

The atmosphere carries a nostalgic yet vibrant dive bar energy, punctuated by amenities like pool tables that add to the communal feel. Frequent guests praise the bartenders—especially “Miss Pam”—for their attentive service and the well-curated daily specials that offer both variety and value. Despite fondness for the ambiance, some mention the presence of cigarette smoke, which aligns with the venue’s grandfathered smoking policy, a nod to its old-school personality but a caveat for more sensitive visitors.

With extended hours until 2 AM, The Sports Grill perfectly suits night owls and those looking for a long, leisurely evening of food, drink, and camaraderie. Whether you’re drawn in by the hearty burgers, the cold beer, or the friendly, inclusive vibe, this grill strikes a harmonious balance between traditional bar fare and a community-centered experience. It’s a spot where the menu, the crowd, and the setting all work together to make every visit feel familiar, fun, and thoroughly satisfying.

Just your old favorite "Cheers" bar where everyone knows you no matter how long it's been! Dark cool wonderful dive bar atmosphere, smoking allowed (yet not observably smokey for our sensitive lungs)! Daily food & drink specials are great too, prices have obviously increased but nothing like the rest of the world. Old timey menu, they have it going. Plan to camp out at the bar for the day (& night as they are grandfathered in Cobb County to stay open til 2 am!)

Whenever we sit at a table it always takes a long time to get initial service…way longer than it should be but we are patient because we know the food is so good! Once we actually get service our waitresses are usually very good & attentive after that. If we sit at bar we get helped faster but it’s so smoky at bar. Miss Pam, 1 of the bartenders is my favorite! They have awesome daily specials & the Cajun prime rib bites are amazing too. Few pool tables & a vibe similar to a cheers bar, lots of regulars. Plenty of parking.
